Under The Banyan Tree

Lying under the darkened dust,

Was a seed trying to sprout,

Through the dark alleys,

She fought out of the ground.

And then she looked,

All around in awe.

Under a huge Banyan shade,

That’s where she was.

“Hello kid”, The wise tree said,

With a smile that spanned a hundred heads.

“Why is God inclined to me,

I am so tiny and you’re so big !”

And so the old tree breathed in,

Fresh air dancing for an aimless wind.

“There are creatures around all small and big,

And all that matters is what lies within.”

Days passed by and the weather changed,

The Kind tree held her through all her pains,

Beneath the ground in the darkened alleys,

The banyan’s root entangled to the plant’s veins.

One day humanity crawled in the greens,

Knives and axes cutting through serene,

Under the mindless head above them,

Killed everywhere they had been.

So the axes cut through the bark,

Chunks of wood spattering apart,

And all of this witnessed,

The tiny little young plant.

I’ll sell it for two, said the wisest dumb,

And left her alone, Oh if she could ever run!

She stood there, growing stronger and new,

To live out what the old tree couldn’t do.

And the men rejoiced the night,

Together with their home-sick wives.

Not a thousand dollars or two,

The tree was worth a thousand lives.

Lying under the darkened dust,

Was a seed trying to sprout,

Through the dark alleys,

She fought out of the ground.

And then she looked,

All around in awe.

Under a huge Banyan shade,

That’s where she was.

its beautiful. lots of things to learn from it. people should learn the biggest characteristics from it that is being selflessness, patience, giving etc. A tree stands high without an ego. always is giving, that is it gives shade, fruits, oxygen etc without ever asking anything in return.where as we human beings who have the reasoning power always give only if we know that we will get back something.how selfish????it withstands the natural calamities without complaining.and we keep complaining for every little thing. there are many more which i would like u to think 🙂
